Description
Would you like to find out about volunteering with ChildLine?
ChildLine Glasgow holds Volunteering Recruitment Meetings (VRMs) for anyone interested in hearing about volunteering on the ChildLine helpline as a dual counsellor or email counsellor. Dual counsellors work with children and young people on the phone, and online via chats and emails. Email counsellors work with young people via email.
Our next VRMs are on:
Wednesday 8 June at 11am
Monday 13 June at 6pm
At a VRM you’ll meet a couple of staff and a volunteer and hear about life at ChildLine – what young people talk to us about, how we work with them and how volunteers are crucial to our work. You’ll hear about the training and support provided to volunteers, the commitment we ask of our volunteers, and you’ll be able to ask questions. This should help you decide whether you want to apply to volunteer (there is no obligation).
VRMs are held in our office in Templeton House, 62 Templeton St Glasgow G40 1DA. We are on the 3rd floor and there is a lift. There is a free car park and on-street parking, the nearest train station is Bridgeton (a ten minute walk away) and the numbers 18, 64 and 263 buses pass the office. We ask attendees to arrive at least five minutes before the start time if possible, so as not to interrupt the meeting or miss any key information. VRMs last between 1 and 1½ hours, depending on the number of questions.
We have a limited number of spaces (and seats!) available so please book a place by clicking the "Apply" button. You're not applying to volunteer - you'll be taken to the meeting booking form where you can book a place and submit questions.
Please note no previous experience is required – as a helpline volunteer you'll play a crucial role in empowering children, so we make sure you receive the best training possible. If you need any help contact the Glasgow base on 0141 212 3878.
