Daniel, a mischievous cheeky chap and his funny, creative younger sister Sarah 8, are looking for a Special Needs Nanny / Manny to assist with the afterschool routine and during the school holidays. Daniel 12, has Global Development Delay, he is nonverbal however is very capable of communicating his needs using Makaton, PECS and will often take you by the hand to direct you. Daniel’s Makaton signs are unique to him. Sarah is very independent and has a budding social life, this role is very much about supporting both children as and when needed.
Always up for fun, laughs and adventure, Daniel is a very happy and sociable young man. He has lots (lots!) of energy so we are looking for a Special Needs Nanny / Manny who has the ability to keep up and can join in activities such as jumping on the trampoline, swimming, cycling and going for walks. You will enjoy being outdoors as much as Daniel, of course busy days in school can leave him feeling tired, so he might just want to come home to relax with his Thomas the Tank Engine blanket. Daniel’s mobility is very good, however his safety awareness is limited, so close supervision is essential. All food for Daniel will be pureed or mashed, you will be creative in developing new ways to ensure Daniel enjoys meal prep and eating. He require assistant and support with each daily task and personal care.
The general nursery nanny / manny duties will be included, such as cooking, light housework and school pickups. Daniel attends a fantastic special needs school and the school bus will drop him home, however Sarah will need to be picked up after school. This role will suit a Special Needs Nanny / Manny who enjoys working within a ‘go with the flow’ family environment. Mum works from home some days, this is a busy house so you will have the ability to think of your feet and just go with it.
