The Market Garden specialises in local and organic food, offering fresh produce grown by husband and wife team Jonathan and Lucy in Long Hanborough.
Over the last four years, we’ve built a loyal following from the local community at our shop in the village of Eynsham. We are looking for an assistant manager to work alongside us and develop the business, so we have more time to tend to the crops on the land.
Responsibilities include:
- Opening up the shop and setting out the produce to make an attractive display.
- Thoroughly checking all items for freshness and quality.
- Working with a sales assistant and supervising them in their
day-to-day duties.
- Be proactive in sourcing new product lines and developing
product merchandising.
- Create and verify purchase orders.
- Packing veg boxes ready for delivery.
- General shop duties e.g. cleaning & tidying, answering the phone.
- Closing up and packing away the produce, and cashing up.
The right candidate will have:
- Passion about local food and customer service.
- Knowledge of cooking and food preparation.
- Excellent people skills and be a team player.
- High standards and be quality driven.
- Basic IT knowledge (familiarity with Excel an advantage).
- A basic food hygiene certificate (an advantage, but training
can be given).
Salary £17,500 per annum
